Babies, children, and even adults naturally wake, or at least enter light sleep, multiple times a night. If they are no longer comfortable, children can wake fully and call for their parents. Here are some things that may cause discomfort:
- Parents no longer present (especially for children with separation anxiety)
- Temperature (consider a night time fan, morning heater, sleeping bags, or well-tucked bedding)
- Light (see information on black out curtains here)
- Noise (see information on noise conditions here)
- Comforter Loss (see preventing comforter loss here)
- Wet or dirty nappy
- Hunger (see information on night-time hunger here)
