Place a mattress on the floor in the parents room, and teach your child to sneak in ‘quiet as a mouse’ into the second bed if your child wakes up wanting to be closer to Mum and Dad. Remember this may mean your child wandering around bleary eyed and possibly disoriented. Check for obstacles, hazards such as heaters, and fans, and ensure that cupboard doors are securely shut so that they can’t be mistaken for the bedroom door.
